There are Probable blessings within disability, but the pain
with that experience of having a disability is what ultimately cause’s the
victim to feel disabled and outcast from society. What if that disability could be a blessing
in disguise? Now I am not saying that a
disabled person would think like this or that I think that it is great that
certain people are disabled and I am not, but what I am saying is that some
aspects or outcomes of being disabled may be a blessing. For example, people with the disability of
being blind tend to have better hearing due to the increased use of their ears
instead of eye site. Now I am not saying
that all people who are blind have this increase in hearing, but some do.
In the supplementary reading the
quote, “if men define situations as real, they are real in their consequences.”
Somewhat holds true, we all have consequences for the choices we make. Not all the consequences will be bad because
some of them will be good. Their will
always be inequalities with people who have disabilities and those without
them. The whole point is not to reflect
on it. Now I know that not all people
see the blessings in the consequences or the actions taken that result in
disability or even born with it, but everyone has some sort of purpose and the
best thing anyone can do is to encourage and accept those who are different or
those who look slightly weird or have trouble doing certain tasks and help them
overcome their pain. It has taken me
years to see that or even see people for their hearts versus their disability,
but some of them never asked for the life they were given or the things that
were taken from them. Inequality is
perpetuated by the thought of someone having something that another person has,
in other words, jealousy, envy, lack of self-control. Overall, Equality will always be harder to
achieve than inequality because peoples’ lives will always change for better or
for worse and there is nothing you can do to reverse time and change the events
that have happened.
Sometimes I wish that was the answer, I think we all do.
I really like where you took the whole disability thing as a blessing in many eyes. It is true in many cases and it all happens for a reason and like you said you can't change it or reverse anything that happens. Disabilities either born with or having to face later in life are all challenging but I feel as they shape a person to be the person they are, and it is all in the long run for the better or a reason. Disabilities are not punishments, nor should be looked down upon in this world.
ReplyDeleteThanks, for the comment Olivia! :) I wanted to look not at the negatives of the disability, so many times we always look into the negatives in/on certain topics and its so relieving when we see miracles and goodness out their in this sad and most of the time depressing world. Their are so many inequalities and we are always trying to fix them and by trying to fix everything we either make things worse or we forget that issues or inequalities could be fixed by themselves or by the heart of someone who wants to change things. Again thank you for your comment.
